Pacific Community Partnerships
Pacific Community Partnerships (PCP) is a newly established group in Australia made up of friends and family of the people of Lilisiana. We aim to create partnerships with other Pacific communities in order to share funding, materials, resources, skills and knowledge to provide assistance with water supply and sanitation, food security, education, health and environment. Early this year we helped some women in Lilisiana to set up an organisation called Fui Geli Asi (women by the sea). They were recently successful in their first triumph - gaining funding for three new water tanks in the village.
Project Helpim Lilisiana will kick off in August 2009 when four PCP members (Amie Batalibasi, Amanda Cuyler, Pip Kelly and Lincoln Smith) will head over to the Solomons to work in collaboration with Fui Geli Asi and the Lilisiana Village Committee and document the process via film.
Project Helpim Lilisiana has three main objectives:
1. Community Education:
To hold Womens Celebration Days in August with workshops, information sessions and discussions on health, nutrition, diet, small gardens, domestic violence, law and money management.
2. Community Services:
To support Lilisisana Kindergarten with resources, educational materials and building materials.
3. Income Generation:
To provide support, materials and knowledge to help people in Lilisiana create micro-enterprises.
